American Legion Holds
9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

9/25/09 On Friday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m., American Legion Post 119 held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony for the nearly 3,000 American lives lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Flight 93 eight years ago. The ceremony paid homage to all those who lost their lives due to acts of terrorism on September 11, 2001, to their family and friends, and to those who worked during the recovery and aftermath..

Special guest speakers included Estes Park Fire Chief Scott Dorman and Estes Park Police Chief Wes Kufeld. Over 400 emergency personnel died responding to these events.

Former President George W. Bush declared September 11 Patriot Day. President Bush directed that the American Flag be flown at half-mast and a moment of silence begin at 8:46 a.m. EDT, the time of the first plane crash on September 11, 2001
