November 11, 2009 – Donna Weber, an officer of Estes Park American Legion Post 119 and Gulf War veteran, recently arranged for three local veterans to receive Quilts of Valor. October 1, 2009 – This year the Post entered the names of all Early Birds in a drawing for two of Amy's Cajun fried chiken dinners, which are served on the third Friday night each month between 18:00 and 20:00. Early Birds are Legion members paying their dues prior to October 1st. The winner was Bertarm Kolts of Estes Park, who was sent his gift certificate for two dinners. Congratulations Legionaire Kolts! September 25, 2009 – Staff Sergeant Michael J. Bachelor returned to his home in Estes Park after completing his second tour of duty in Iraq. American Legion Post 119 invited all of Estes Park to come and welcome him home on Friday, September 4th. March 3, 2009 – Jack & Sharyn Gartner (Post Auxilliary) just received word of Sharyn's Marine son Sgt. Glenn Hendee being promoted to Staff Sergeant February 1st by his Platoon Commander, USMC 1st LAR (Light Armored Reconnaissance), 2nd Lt. R.K. Sala, in Al Anbar, Iraq. Staff Sergeant Hendee also was awarded a Good Conduct Medal as a reward for three years of untarnished service to his country. The Staff Sergeant will be returning to the States after seven months in Iraq, his third tour, in late April. Staff Sergeant Hendee is the son of William (Willie) Hendee, former member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 119.
