Service Officer 2009-2010

My name is Diane Rayburn and I am Joseph J. Duncan, Jr., American Legion Post 119's Post Service Officer (PSO) for the 2009-2010 term.

My goal during this time is to be able to reach veterans, their family members and anyone wanting to assist them, by several different methods. Although there are veterans in our community who do not have access to the internet, possibly do not get the local papers, may not tune into the local radio station and do not attend meetings or functions at the Post, I still want to be able to assist them in meeting their needs.

That's why I am enlisting your help to get the word out to these vets and families that help is here, even though they might not have access to any of the above mentioned resources. If you know of someone, please give them my name and phone number so I can meet them and work out hellp for them. My name again is Diane Rayburn and my phone number is 970-586-6553. I also have two email addresses you can reach me at: estesdi@gmail.com or pso@estespost119.org. Please pass any, or all of these methods to contact me along to those who need help. I sincerely appreciate your help!

From the 2007 Post Service Officers Guide: "The purpose of the PSO is to be an initial point of contact regarding veteran issues by providing veterans in the community where the post is located with basic information and assistance, including referral as directed by the Department Service Officer. Given the complexity and broad range of rules that govern VA benefits, it is critically important for the PSO to work with the professional American Legion DSO and ensure any paperwork submitted to the veteran is forwarded to the DSO in a timely manner, to ensure proper service."

I hope to be able to have this same information printed in the two local papers, as well as an announcement on the radio.

I'm here to help you! Please contact me with any questions and concerns.
